Careers in Hire is an initiative of the Hire Industry Association of NZ (Inc) to encourage young  and young at heart people to consider a career within the Hire Industry.

From Auckland to Invercargill, our people are shaping the future of New Zealand.

Our Association undertakes a large number of activities that are designed to improve the commercial well being and public perception of all the hire industry. Our members are predominantly Hire Companies situated throughout New Zealand. The Hire Industry Association of New Zealand respects the views and opinions of its membership in determining policy and direction. The Association promotes & encourages communication from members to ensure continuous improvement in today’s ever changing business environment.

GENERAL HIRE

Customer Service

Promote and drive a passionate customer driven culture by ensuring a strong focus on excellent service and sales assistance to customers and ‘right first time execution’.

Logistics

Provide an outstanding customer experience by ensuring the correct hire plant and equipment is delivered/ uplifted and serviced in a timely and efficient manner.

Yard Service

Ensure the yard area and equipment is clean, tidy and presentable at all times for branch staff and customers. This role is often a stepping stone to greater opportunities.

Workshop

Branch mechanics provide an outstanding customer experience by carrying out repairs and preventative maintenance to all hire plant and guaranteeing customer satisfaction.

Access

Customer Service/ Sales

Promote and drive a passionate customer driven culture by ensuring a strong focus on excellent service and sales assistance to customers and ‘right first time execution’.

Spare Parts Department

Access equipment parts departments are crucial to the smooth running of equipment fleets. People in this area can gain trade qualifications and gain knowledge that is highly valued.

Yard Activities

Leading position with lots of learning about the industry and business processes in the equipment. Responsible for cleaning equipment return on general duties.

Office & Management

Management

Our industry needs good leaders and you could become a branch manager, general manager or commercial manager. If you are keen to excel and lead others, this could be your future.

Administration

General administration support, HR, health and safety and planning. Admin people keep our industry running smoothly and support business.

Marketing

Our industry is growing and it’s all due to marketing and great relationships. If you have good interpersonal, telemarketing, digital media and AV skills, this could be your next career.

Accounts

Be part of the financial team and work in payable or receivables, account reviews, reporting and other key tasks to keep the industry running smoothly.

Party & Events

Customer Service/ Sales

Suits people with creativity and vision, specialised marketing such as digital. Party and Events sales people work with great clients all over the country.

Logistics and deliveries​

Logistics and deliveries people keep up the flow of goods and equipment to events across the country. They play a vital role in delivering a great outcome.

Installers

Typically on-site, these people are the face of the industry and their companies, typically cementing relationships with clients and developing a rapport.

STUDENT WORKFORCE

The Chamber’s ‘Education to Employment’ team or ED&EM’s goal is to connect secondary students with the world of work, whether that be directly with employers or preparing them to engage with businesses through workshops and events. www.chamberemployment.co.nz/education-to-employment In 2023 the Chamber ED&EM team led or supported 176 career events, attended by 26,000 Auckland high school students.
