Conference attracts record attendance

This year’s Hire Industry Association of New Zealand (HIANZ) Conference engaged a record number of attendees, with the industry having experienced several prosperous years and strong growth.

A total of 390 hire company owners, managers and staff, as well as equipment and service suppliers to the industry from New Zealand and Australia attended the stimulating and informative event. Attendees enjoyed an extensive programme of workshops, guest speakers, trade show and networking opportunities.

The HIANZ Conference is an occasion where business owners, CEO’S, senior managers and employees can get together in a neutral, fun environment to discuss industry trends, legislative issues, talk with suppliers, attend workshops and catch up with old friends. The event includes a programme of Workshops, on various topics relative to the industry, to provide hire company delegates with educational material and an overview of the Association’s current and future initiatives.

“This years’ record attendance is a reflection of the strength of the hire industry and the relevance of trade organisations”, says HIANZ CEO, Phil Tindle.

“The value of trade associations is hugely significant. Increased workload often results in less time for businesses to focus on planning and administrative functions. Less time can also make it difficult to access reliable and relevant industry support and services. HIANZ is dedicated to provide valued resources and support to our members and the industry”.

“Our industry sector is still small enough to be very personal and members form lasting friendships. It’s very much like joining a large family – everybody gets on well and all our events offer members a congenial and relaxed environment to come together to share and network.”

The popular trade show continues to grow year upon year.  Fifty-six supplier members participated and exhibited at the recent event displaying a good range of products and equipment. There were a number of new members in attendance including new supplier companies exhibiting for the very first time impressing delegates with innovative enhancements to products in existing equipment categories.

Keynote speakers included New Zealander of the Year, Mike King and the very sought-after Nigel Latta.

Business sessions and workshops were presented by Karl Varley, Building Powerful & Productive Teams & Simple Strategies to Increase Profit; Westpac Chief Economist Dominik Stephens, on State of the Nation; Debbie Mayo-Smith, How to Ease your Work-Life Imbalance & Massive Yet Effortless Productivity Gains; and Janet Brothers on OH&S.

The Hire Excellence Awards Dinner & Show is an important part of every HIANZ conference. Hosted by principal sponsor Youngman Richardson & Genie, the main purpose of the evening is to recognise excellence within the industry.  It is a formal black-tie gala event that features great entertainment and is considered the grand finale to mark yet another a very successful industry event.
