APEX Marquee Accreditation & Training
APEX is a Training and Accreditation scheme designed for persons and companies operating within the Marquee Industry in New Zealand.
In years gone by, New Zealand has had no standard method or system to measure the knowledge, skill or experience of individual marquee riggers. The APEX scheme was developed in 2014 to certify marquee companies and their employees, it is designed so as to provide a level of consistency across the industry and promote quality assurance to users of Marquee, to Councils and Building Control Officers, to Worksafe, ACC and other stakeholders.
The scheme is administered by the Hire Industry Association of New Zealand, who are considered the peak representative body for Marquee Installation within New Zealand. Our members include marquee manufacturers, marquee owners, marquee hire companies, and end users. Accredited APEX certified companies will have trained and accredited staff, they will use compliant products and meet the necessary operational standards, procedures, and safety.
Level 1 – Introductory Rigger Training
Ideal for those who are new to rigging or with 1–2 years’ experience.
The Level 1 course includes:
• Overview of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
• Marquee types and their uses
• Tools, equipment and transport prep
• Site preparation and installation
• Anchoring methods and working in challenging conditions
• Marquee maintenance processes and safe operations
Level 2 – Senior Rigger Development
For those with 2 to 4 plus years of industry experience who have completed Level 1.
The Level 2 course includes:
This advanced training focuses on:
• Team leadership and site supervision
• PCBU responsibilities and public safety systems
• Site safety planning and documentation
• Incident and injury reporting
• Operating under the Apex compliance and accreditation framework
APEX training scheme for marquee riggers
This training programme has been designed to provide three levels of accreditation for Marquee Riggers:
LEVEL ONE
This is the basic Marquee Rigger course and establishes all the fundamentals of your training.
LEVEL TWO
Level 2 is at the advanced rigging course and takes you to higher levels of marquee understanding.
LEVEL THREE
Level 3 is for those people who want to become trainers of marquee erections
