Budget 2023’s infrastructure focus could be lifted with industry help
New Zealand’s recovery and resilience would be more easily attained if the Government proactively engaged with the hire industry to help bridge the infrastructure deficit.
So says Hire Industry Association of New Zealand chief executive Rodney Grant, who applauds Budget 2023 for its pragmatic endeavour to ‘build for tomorrow’.
“However, if we want to see a more resilient and sustainable future realised for our infrastructure needs, then the Government should use the resources readily available,” Grant says.
“The hire industry numbers more than 500 organisations and, combined, is the largest fleet owner of plant and equipment for the construction sector.
“We have the resources available to gear up projects quickly and sustainably, not just for future projects but with the Cyclone Gabrielle recovery too.”
